A "CDN" for Dynamic Content
Ideated October 1st, 2011
Currently, content delivery networks (CDNs) like Akamai are used to cache and serve only the static content (HTML, images, JS and CSS) that is used by websites. The use of CDNs has proven to result in an increase in revenue at many companies. There's no questioning the fact that users of the web are impatient, and delivering content a couple of seconds faster makes a world of difference in many cases.

I propose the creation of a CDN for dynamic content -- that might amount simply to geographically distributed web hosting. So essentially, if someone hosts their site on such a network, the web servers (distributed over a large geographical area) closest to the clients' locations would be the ones that would serve up content to them.
